In April, the international Salone del Mobile fair took place in Milan. Originally established 63 years ago as a trade event for Italian furniture manufacturers, the fair quickly evolved—thanks to its clear vision and strong concept—into the leading global event in the furniture industry. Today, many companies align the launch of new products with the dates of this fair.
Due to Italy's rich artisan tradition and the economic strength of the Milan region, the event has become a significant economic contributor, generating approximately €300 million annually. Milan is currently ranked as the third-largest urban economy in the EU, following London and Paris.
This year, the fair saw a 20.2% increase in visitor numbers compared to the previous year, with nearly 2,000 exhibitors and designers participating. The event also featured two biennial exhibitions—Eurocucina (kitchens) and Salone Internazionale del Bagno (bathrooms)—as well as SaloneSatellite, a platform for emerging designers.
Among the Slovenian participants, designers Nika Zupanc, who collaborated with Driade and Ditre Italia, and Lara Bohinc, who is based in London, stood out. The iconic Slovenian brand Rex Kralj also presented its legendary REX chair, which is part of the permanent collection at MoMA in New York. The Slovenian furniture company Stilles, a long-standing exhibitor and our loyal partner for over 30 years, also took part.
Salone del Mobile continues to be the most influential global event in the furniture sector and remains a central platform for presenting future design trends.
