What are wood glazes (lazures)?
Glazes protect wood from the elements. They can be clear or pigmented. They are translucent, leaving the wood grain visible. Often include additives for protection against insects and mold.
What are the benefits of oil-based wood protection?
Oils are the most natural and eco-friendly option. They soak into the wood, leaving only a thin layer and preserving a natural appearance.
What’s the difference between lacquered and oiled surfaces?
On lacquered surfaces, the paint creates a protective film that shields the substrate from mechanical and chemical impacts. With oils or waxes, a more natural appearance and open pores are achieved. These coatings do not form a continuous surface layer but penetrate into the wood pores. As a result, oiled surfaces are less resistant to external influences.
