What is the standard diameter for connecting a kitchen hood?
The usual diameters for kitchen hood exhaust ducts are 125 mm and 150 mm. Any adjustments can be made using reducer fittings.
How loud is a kitchen hood?
The typical noise range of kitchen hoods is between 40 and 60 dB (decibels). For context: the operation of a refrigerator produces a noise level of around 40 dB, while normal conversation between two people is around 60 dB.
What is the appropriate height for installing a kitchen hood?
For electric cooktops, the distance from the cooktop to the bottom edge of the hood should be at least 55 cm. For gas cooktops, it should be at least 65 cm. Installation below these heights is not recommended for safety reasons. Likewise, mounting the hood too far from the cooktop is discouraged, as this reduces the hood’s effectiveness.
What types of filters are available for kitchen hoods?
There are metal filters that can be washed and charcoal filters that need to be replaced periodically. The choice depends on the type of hood and your requirements.
