Frequently asked Questions

Accurate information is key to high-quality execution, which is why we are here to answer your questions.
What is the recommended temperature for the workshop?
The recommended temperature of the workshop is between 18 - 22°C. A (too) low temperature affects the shorter open time of the hot melt adhesive, which causes the adhesive to set too quickly even before the pressure roller presses the tape onto the panel. The result is a poor-quality adhesive joint or deviation of the edge tape.
Can wall plugs be shortened?
If you shorten a wall plug, you reduce its load capacity. If shortening cannot be avoided, cut only the front part—the part protruding from the wall—using a carpet knife or pliers. It’s best to insert the plug into the appropriately drilled hole first, then cut off the protruding part. If the plug is metal, only shorten it with a metal saw. Important: The screw must be longer than the wall plug itself.
Which screws are suitable for wall plugs?
Most wall plugs can be used with chipboard screws and wood screws, which are the most common. Some special anchors are designed for use with screws having a metric thread. Screws with cutting ribs or thread cutters are not suitable for plastic wall anchors.
How long should the screw be?
The screw must penetrate the wall anchor along its entire length to ensure secure fastening. Typically, the screw tip should extend beyond the end of the anchor by one screw diameter to achieve maximum load capacity. As a rough recommendation, we suggest using screws approximately 2 cm longer than classic or universal wall anchors.
What is the difference between full-thread and partial-thread screws?
Full-thread wood screws are robust and durable. They screw into the material creating a strong connection. They are ideal for carpentry, furniture making, and other woodworking projects, providing maximum holding power in load-bearing constructions. Partial-thread screws are especially suitable for joints where two workpieces need to be tightly clamped together. The smooth part of the screw, about 40% of its length, creates a pulling effect that ensures proper clamping of the elements.
Why do screws have self-cutting ribs under the head?
Self-cutting ribs cut into the material during tightening and create a recess so that the screw head sits flush with the wood surface.
Why do screws have brake ribs under the head?
Brake ribs are used on screws designed for fitting hardware. They ensure the screw stops when it presses against metal, preventing unwanted loosening.
What is a confirmat screw used for?
Confirmat screws are used for joining and screwing particleboard furniture, providing a strong joint. Pre-drilling is essential when using confirmat screws. A special drill with a countersink is used so the screw head is recessed into the material. The drilled hole must be deep enough for the entire length of the screw. If the hole is too shallow, tightening the screw can cause the particleboard to split.
